Brothers Charged In Stabbing, Hanging Of Pit Bull

LANSING (WWJ/AP) – Two brothers have been charged in the stabbing and hanging of a pit bull in Lansing.

Thirty-three-year-old Benjamin Conley and 30-year-old Nicholas Conley are charged with animal killing — a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

They were arrested and arraigned Friday and are being held at the Ingham County jail on $25,000 bonds.

The Lansing State Journal reports the Conleys don’t have attorneys listed with the court.

The dog was found Sept. 6.  in the 1700 block of Illinois Avenue on Lansing’s north side. It had been stabbed multiple times and hanged.

Animals control officials say Benjamin Conley admitted stabbing the dog who he claims had bit him and his 13-year-old son the day before.  He denied hanging the dog, however.

A preliminary examination is scheduled for Oct. 11.
